"Hatha Yoga teaches us to use the body as the bow, asana as the arrow, and the soul as the target." - BKS Iyengar
hatha yoga
Hatha Yoga is one of the oldest and best-known forms of yoga, a holistic approach that combines conscious movement and breathing.
Asanas (body postures) range from simple to complex. They were designed thousands of years ago to improve muscle strength, increase flexibility and balance, benefits that you will feel after each class.
Hatha practice involves holding asanas for a longer period of time, approximately 5-10 breaths. Hatha practice is a static practice, but that doesn't mean a hatha class is necessarily easy.
Classes can be intense, intermediate or moderate, depending on the class, this aspect being specified in the schedule, but regardless of the difficulty level of the class, the teacher will suggest modifications to the asanas, so that your body can support them.
Hatha Yoga is the most recommended starting point for beginners, perfect for learning the basics, but we must not forget that Yoga is for the mind, breath, and pranic flow, not an alternative to physical strengthening.
